Chief Technology Officer at Ladybird IoT

Technical Director at Mountain IoT Group

Ladybird IoT (formerly Terraprima, which I co-founded in 2019) was acquired by the Mountain IoT Group in August 2024. I hold both roles of CTO of Ladybird IoT and Technical Director of the Mountain IoT Group, leading the technology effort across IoT, product development and sensor technologies for the group.

Main achievements and responsibilities since the acquisition:

  • Hands-on across the stack: hardware, firmware, software, ML and APIs.
  • Built the hardware and embedded software function from scratch, including supply chain and manufacturing. Grew a small team within it, while integrating into the wider group and influencing engineering practice more broadly through a matrix-style structure.
  • Designed and launched a new sensor platform.
  • Delivered the group’s first in-house hardware product. Taken from initial ideation to a Class II certified, mass-manufactured LoRaWAN-enabled connected edge controller for building automation and energy management, now deploying at scale across the UK market. See the Industrial IoT Edge Controller →
  • Grew the data platform to 1 billion+ records. Built the ML pipelines that retrain on it daily, exposing the data through a custom API, an MCP server, LLM-powered features, and our customer-facing B2B dashboard — including a microclimate prediction pipeline.
  • Actively involved in commercialisation and customer relationships alongside the commercial team, ensuring the product roadmap reflects real customer needs.

Co-founder & CTO at Mothive

Co-founder & CTO at Terraprima Group

Co-founded Mothive in 2018 (agri-tech IoT: LoRaWAN sensors + software platform). Merged with Odyssey Sensors into Terraprima Group in 2019; continued as co-founder and CTO through funding rounds until acquisition by Mountain IoT Group in 2024 (rebranded Ladybird IoT).

Main achievements and responsibilities:

  • Built the company and full technology stack from scratch — from hardware to cloud — then hired and led a very lean product and technology team.
  • Took products from prototype through DFM to mass manufacturing in China, including production test automation and a resilient on-the-ground supply chain.
  • Delivered a data-heavy B2B IoT and intelligent SaaS platform, with first-in-market hardware capabilities at the price point.
  • Deployed globally (UK, Europe, Asia, Africa) with years of always-on outdoor operation; scaled to hundreds of millions of sensor records.

CTO in Residence at Startupbootcamp

As the CTO in residence of the Accelerator Startupbootcamp IoT London, I have advised and mentored 9 international IoT start-ups (Canada, South America, UK, Israel, East Europe) operating across diverse industries such as Agriculture, Security, Retail, Education, Transport, Space Management, Robotics.

Co-founder at Ligo Health

Co-founded with four other entrepreneurs, including two NHS orthopaedic doctors, to improve hip and knee replacement pathways with real-time wearable tracking and data across pre-hab, hospital stay and rehab. Early-stage: business plan and initial investor interest; did not proceed to operations.

Director at Seroware

Founder at TechnTone

Seroware: technology strategy and hands-on product/technology work for startups, on an ad-hoc basis — also a vehicle for exploring and developing new product ideas and side projects.

TechnTone: design, manufacture and distribute original analog guitar effects pedals — sold direct and via distributors in 20+ countries, with overwhelmingly positive customer feedback.

Stealth AI-native SaaS: an agentic system orchestrating multiple LLMs to automate a judgment-heavy workflow end-to-end.

Co-founder & CTO at Vinaya

Co-founded Vinaya (originally Kovert Designs) to design, manufacture and commercialise beautiful, intelligent biometric wearables for health and wellbeing (B2C) — when the category was still nascent. Started from simply an idea as the only technical founder: built the first hardware and software myself, then hired and led a strong cross-functional team.

  • Grew the company through multiple funding rounds to an internationally recognised business, with heavy R&D producing category-defining wearables.
  • Kept all product development in-house, with manufacturing tightly managed across East Asia (Taiwan, China, Thailand).
  • Pushed hard on miniaturisation, battery technology and low power, achieving best-in-class performance for the time — plus a novel biometric sensing architecture, including an IC co-developed with a Silicon Valley startup, and new materials and manufacturing processes.
  • From silicon to cloud: recruited and led a multidisciplinary R&D organisation spanning hardware, embedded software, manufacturing and production automation, product and UX/UI design, product/project management, mobile (iOS and Android), cloud, data analysis and machine learning.
  • Owned technology and product strategy and roadmap; led international business development and negotiations.

Leading Hardware Design Engineer at Imagination Technologies

  • Designed ASIC IP cores for world-leading PowerVR GPUs, licensed to Apple, Intel, Samsung and others and shipped in billions of consumer devices.
  • Focused on RTL design, test and optimisation, ISA and APIs (OpenGL, DirectX, OpenCL), synthesis and power evaluation.
  • Mentored and supervised engineers, participated in recruitment, and conducted technical interviews.

Research Scientist at NXP Semiconductor

Research Scientist in the Modem and Media Signal Processing department of NXP Research at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. I have worked on a multistandard and multiradio Software Defined Radio for in-car applications implemented on a single chip.

  • Embedded systems research: studied and implemented patented embedded algorithms on low-power, high-performance vector DSPs for automotive Software Defined Radio (SDR).
  • Used HW/SW tools and low-level programming for clock-cycle-accurate simulation and debugging of embedded systems.
  • Optimised and benchmarked embedded architectures and instruction sets for performance and power.
